In selling I am not using the same skills that got me where I am today. For me those skills will not be good enough to get me where I am going. I do not want to be going down the wrong track. For me, getting to the next level I continually hone my selling skills. An executive from Costco once told me as I was visiting their corporate office, "Hoyt we did not get to be the company we are today by doing what we are doing today". A comment that has stayed with me my entire career. In selling, I must stay on the cutting, not bleeding edge. One thing however will not change for me and that is to keep giving. Keep the customer in mind and make sure I provide more service than I think I am capable of. Are you striving to be the best at your profession? Are you hungry? Are you willing to learn new skills within your trade? If so, you are on your way to claiming your large W2? Selling is a game, be the best at it.
