You hear it often, "give more, receive more". Nothing wrong with that, right!? There are so many meaningful quotes, analogies, references to putting in the time and how it will return with incredible abundance. When selling, I give as much as I possibly can. Whether it is products, service, goodwill, financials, effort, sweat equity, etc. It does not matter, I just keep giving. The more I invest in this sincere effort the more comes back. Selling to provide, to service, to give is the same as lighting one candle from another. The lit candle provides a flame to another candle but does not lose its flame. The gift that keeps on giving and still stands tall. Also when I was selling in my earlier years I had the "I want it all" attitude. No win win for me buddy. I wanted it all without giving. Well that did not work. I soon came upon the white knuckle syndrome. Once I was willing to let go and give I started to receive. It starts with giving, and ends with giving. Life is amazing, once you embrace that what goes out from you returns in abundance then life has a sense of purpose. It's true, giving tops the list of self fulfillment. Make the effort, give, give, give and step back and watch what happens!!

This is a great sentiment. I once worked for a General Manager who said "you can have whatever you want in life if you help enough people get what they want first". Those words never left me, and is synonymous with your metaphor of a candle lighting another candle without losing its flame.
